Supervisor, Operations - 2nd shift (Lynchburg, VA)

We are looking for a Supervisor, Operations for 2nd Shift. This position provides managerial support for the implementation & delivery of a new products that support a high-volume, fast-moving organization. The Supervisor will be required to interface with intradepartmental business partners including Quality Assurance, Engineering, New Product Development, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Validation. Once implementation is complete, and ensuing commercial launch is imminent, the Supervisor will be responsible for planning, scheduling, guiding and monitoring the release of commercial product from a diverse operation that includes personnel from formulation, primary packaging, secondary packaging (automated cartoning/kitting) and maintenance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Aid in ensuring the successful technical transfer of a key project from the Tech Transfer group to the cGMP production group
  • Interface with functional group leaders including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, New Product Development, Validation, HR, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure aligned strategies, timelines, etc
  • Work closely with direct leadership to manage and prioritizes project resources in support of Company’s deliverables and deadlines as they relate to ongoing business and project demands
  • Help drive a quality, cGMP driven culture by teaching and coaching others within the organization
  • Supervise production and maintenance staff to troubleshoot process and equipment problems
  • Create, revise, and edit SOP, batch records, and specs as needed
  • Actively participate in recruiting efforts to secure, onboard and develop new staff members
  • Ensure the safety of manufacturing/packaging/maintenance area personnel and work practices for the production suite
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff to create a quality-centric organization
  • Utilize continuous improvement principles and methodologies to; identify and evaluate opportunities to improve key performance indicators in the production environment such as, but not limited to: batch yield, process cycle times, financial standards, waste & scrap, and repeat deviations
  • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence culture thru self-detecting and self-correcting processes and systems and instilling strong ownership and accountability
  • Maintain key performance indicators in alignment with department and product supply goals
  • Organize and lead ad hoc cross functional teams to manage investigations and implementation of changes
  • Perform all other related duties as requested
  • Building a continuous learning environment within production
  • Sharing of best practices and learning opportunities and building robust readiness and execution processes to drive sustainable right-first-time performance

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU WILL BRING

  • Supervisor level requiring bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field and 2 plus years of related work experience, or Associates degree and 3 plus years of related work experience. Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience
  • Must have experience in cGMP environment for a minimum of 3 years or equivalent
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical environment preferred
