Fleet Laboratories is seeking a Lead Analytical Scientist this position will perform analytical tests to support formulation development and stability study of prototype formulation and scale-up batches of products.  Develop, troubleshoot, validate and transfer analytical methods.  Coordinate with QA/QC groups and contract manufacturers and laboratories for method transfer and supporting tests.  Ensures the proper documentation of such methods.  Prepare/review stability test reports, method validation/transfer protocols and reports as well as Analytical Development reports. Lead training and instruction of AD personnel. Oversee Equipment Calibration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Responsibilities

  • Lead Analytical Scientist. Collaborate with Formulation lead.
  • Participate in Project meetings.
  • Evaluate and validate/verify appropriate analytical methods for new and existing products while meeting established project timelines.
  • Lead and perform analytical tests to support formulation development and stability study of prototype formulation and scale-up batches of products. 
  • Keep accurate documentation of laboratory work, especially laboratory notebooks, analytical methods development, validation, and transfer to other departments, vendors, and regulatory documents.
  • Generate analytical development reports in a timely manner.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment as needed and ensure that equipment’s are timely calibrated.
  • Review analyst Raw Data, protocol and reports.
  • Ensure Project timelines are met.
  • Perform analytical methods evaluation and validation to demonstrate product or material characterization suitability.   
  • Tests new products or existing products to provide marketing and quality assurance support. Keep accurate records of analytical testing data and generate testing and analytical development reports.  Provides technical support for manufacturing issues related to process and raw materials.
  • Review test reports and evaluate test results to ensure the quality of analytical work.  Track the sample flow to ensure the completion of sample tests within appropriate turnaround time period.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technological advances in the field; remains current on new method development procedures, validation, including additional testing and other procedures as required by regulatory agencies. Recommends the purchase of analytical testing equipment and other appropriate materials.
  • Provides estimates to project teams and management of time and resources needed to complete company projects and attends project team meetings as required.
  • Writes, reviews, and approves technical reports as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU WILL BRING

  • B.S. with eight years or M.S. with six years of hands-on experience in industrial analytical laboratories or a PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline with 4 years industrial experience.
  • A minimum of two years of prior leadership experience.
  • Able to discern and differentiate fragrances and scented products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills suitable for recruiting and relating with panelists. 
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner, as the candidate interacts with panelist recruits throughout the company.
  • Must be able to independently multi-task and establish priorities reliably.
  • Ability to discuss sensitive topics with panelists in an appropriate manner.
  • Experienced in fundamental sensory science and market research preferred.
  • This position requires a person with knowledge and skills in chemical laboratories.
  • Ability to adapt to the laboratory environment under FDA, ICH, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with, but not limited to, the following analytical techniques; HPLC, GC, FTIR, TOC, Titration, Viscometers, pH, and UV/VIS Spectroscopy.
  • Experience with Waters HPLC and Empower software preferred.
